Take mom by train back to her country of origin, visit, and return.

She might feel like she is being thrown on the train, but she is being celebrated, bolstered and reminded of her roots.  In 1932,  Canada was  just starting to shift from primary industry (farming, fishing, mining and logging) to manufacturing. Mom was born and raised on a farm, along with 11 other brothers and sisters.  She passed on her individualism to me, although not in its agrarian form.  And she may be succeeding in passing on the importance of family, tarnished as it has been.
